What is a pre-existing condition?

A pre-existing condition is any condition, symptom, or sign that exists prior to the start of your pet’s insurance policy or Oyen Takaful Kucing certificate. These conditions are typically not covered, which is why it’s important to get your pets insured or covered while they are healthy. Here’s how pre-existing conditions are defined:

  • For Pet Insurance:
    • A condition is considered pre-existing if, before purchasing the policy:
      • Medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment has been recommended for the pet by a veterinarian.
      • The pet has been treated or is receiving treatment from a veterinarian.
      • The pet has clear and distinct symptoms or signs, or these would have been apparent to the policyholder.
  • For Oyen Takaful Kucing:
    • A condition is considered pre-existing if, before the period of takaful:
      • Medical advice, diagnosis, care, or treatment has been recommended for the cat by a veterinarian.
      • The pet has been treated or is receiving treatment from a veterinarian.
      • The pet has clear and distinct signs, symptoms, abnormalities, or physical defects, or these would have been apparent to the certificate holder.

Pre-existing conditions are exempted from coverage under both the insurance policy and the takaful certificate. Therefore, insuring your pet while they are healthy ensures that any eligible conditions that occur later in their lives will be fully covered.

Certificate and policy terms and conditions apply.
