What is a co-payment?

A co-payment is a percentage of the veterinarian fees you are responsible for from each claim. This amount, which is 10% for Oyen Pet Insurance, is stated in your insurance certificate.

How does co-payment work?

We'll use the following example:

  • Your cat, Comel, needs a kidney surgery
  • The procedure costs RM 1,000, so you file a claim for that amount
  • Your policy has a 10% co-payment

Once the claims is approved, here’s how your claim payment would be calculated:

100% - 10% (co-payment by you) = 90%

RM1,000 - RM100 (10% of full claim)  = RM 900

In other words, for vet medical claims, the reimbursement rate is 90%.

See more details on our FAQ page regarding reimbursement rate.
